Like me on a night out, it starts off as a 7 but quickly degenerates into a 4.

This 'yet another cancer movie' starts off with a top notch cast plus the added bonus of a hospitable oncologist explaining to his team / the audience how to talk to, act around, and treat a terminally ill patient. The advice is genuinely helpful which, when combined with the well-assembled ensemble, helps elevate the film above the standard 'yet another cancer movie'.

Sadly, at about the halfway point, they decide they're there to make yet another cancer movie and change everything to ramp up the melodrama and they even inject an absurd romance (a 'romantic' handjob on a terminal patient's death bed!? WTF!?) that is so cringe I physically twisted in my seat trying to look away.

So, the prognosis for the film was originally optimistic, but then there were complications and, in the end, there was nothing that could be done to save it.
