_Passion_ is like taking 3 hours to make a decent pancake: that's a lot of work for one or two good bites. This melodrama is a re-release of a 2008 post-grad feature because the director (Ryûsuke Hamaguchi) eventually became famous. Honestly, this film about love triangles doesn't cover any new ground subject-wise, but there were a couple of scenes that succeeded in rekindling a sense of nostalgia from my own past. Even if I didn't dislike it as much as I did, _Passion_ is a film for film students to see how directors evolve, yet little more than an opportunity to nap for the casual film-goer.
