The day after I still thought about this movie.. It’s disturbing and sad. Yet the socially awkward Tore is perfectly cast and believable as he goes on being the martyr out of goodness and love. I found it a fascinating movie and can recommend it , if you’re in the right mood for it.

A completely bleak, dark and extremely disturbing movie. The story, which is based on real events, develops around ingenuity, extreme abuse and religion, even using references, symbolism and provoking many questions. There are no limits here, and it's hard to even gauge how far everything can go. The performances are so realistic that it feels like a documentary, reinforced by the close-up shots, at many moments even seeming to be inside the scene. In my experience, this was one of the most difficult films to watch. It's not at all easy to see the whole development, the feeling of heaviness, melancholy, pessimism, everything is extremely uncomfortable and constant.

Yeah there's not much joy to be found in this one. Highly disturbing with an air of dark inevitability about the whole thing. right from the start. Glad I watched it. But I wouldn't exactly recommend it to anyone. I did wonder though, whether there was a nod to previous German regimes, what with the blonde haired victim being at the hands of unspeakable evil. Probably just me over analysing it though.
