The film plays some good notes, but ultimately, its more Salieri than Mozart. A tense atmosphere gives way to a standard horror plot, although the ending was suitably macabre.

A very normal film, with no surprises. Do the basics and don't sin, besides the sin of not going beyond the basics.

It’s visually attractive with decent acting, but altogether a shallow narrative.

_Nocturne_ is a very eerie and subdued horror movie. Don't expect gore or violence, this is playing in the phycological realm.
The two movies this reminded me of most were _Suspiria_ (2018), and _Black Swan_ (2010).
Since the best part of the film is how is slowly unravels, I'll merely describe the plot: two sisters, Juliet, and Vivian, are pianists studying at school. We follow Juliet as she tries to outshine her sister. Juliet finds a book which belonged to a girl who killed herself while at the same school. From there, her life slowly comes unglued.
The production is great, and it's an interesting journey, however the ending felt a little flat. I think the problem for me was that it was riding a dual line, and I would have preferred more of a clearcut conclusion.
Still, overall enjoyable. I'd recommend this to fans of A24 horror.

confusing about the ending.. So, is she suicide before or after performing on the stage?

I've been on a bit of a Sweeney movie run as of late and I think this is her best performance of the bunch. The movie is a bit raw, and rough around the edges, but her performance shines through. I liked Iseman's portrayal of her sister Vivian as well. I saw someone comment that this is like a clumsy horror attempt at whiplash, and that's both a fair, but also reductive take. Whiplash is a superior film, but the similarities are mild. This is its own thing and surprised me. Commendable 6.5.

amazing cinematography, a truly beautiful piece of art that had me hooked, but the ending didn't make a whole lot of sense.

6.5/10. It Is a shame the rate Is low, a lot of ppl just crític a movie just ir they like It ir not. But if you divide un 3 categoríes an you just give 1 point if you like It ir not ecerything changes ,
3 Points acting
3 Points cinematography
3 Points script
1 point your approval

To me 2 script, 1.7 acting, 2 cinematography, and 0.8 like It.

Because some ppl evaluate the movies if they created something. But a lot of they nevera participate in their life something related to art.

I liked it, but it was really run of the mill and didn’t surprise me. Good performances but it needed a better idea for how the story was told imo.

If you want to see Madison Iseman as a mean twin sister,‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ series is a much better place to find her.

The film has a very good soundtrack with classical music in the background, but for a film from one of the best producers in the horror genre like BlumHouse, it almost tiptoes through the genre.

I would say that it goes from a tense atmosphere to a more or less standard horror plot, for my taste I think that the ending was the most appropriate for the genre because of the macabre and sinister nature of the final image.

This film reminded me a little of The Neon Demon (another indie horror movie about "stealing talent", but in a different context). I liked the idea of the notebook with the drawings that looked like tarot cards, so you could see different things in them.
Beside that, it's kinda slow and predictable... Good actors, tho'!

Visually adequate, but lacking in substance. Nocturne is a peripheral watch - good for occasional glances while you're doing something else. 4.5/10

I didn’t know Sydney Sweeney existed before seeing White Lotus. She’s very talented and seems like a method actor. So far I’ve only seen a couple of her films. Promising young actress.

This movie isn’t very complicated, it revolves around the very predictable premise of young people getting consumed by the pressure to excel in a very specific subject. The movie follows the journey of two sisters who are both talented musicians.
