This is **NOT** a gay love story. It is about two teenage boys, Caíto and Lorenzo. Caíto comes to stay with Lorenzo's family because of some problems, and Lorenzo grows to care about him. Lorenzo is straight, and the two guys love one another as friends (for Caíto, who hasn't experienced the love of a family, he can only _say_ he loves in return). Shame on the distributors for labeling the film as gay to sensationalize it and gain viewers.

Instead, and more interestingly, this is a story which examines the ideas of opening one's family home to a troubled teen, and the risk of hurt by opening one's heart to a peer who needs someone to care.

@bfchris The movie is labeled gay because it's literally about a gay teen, struggling to accept that about himself, falling in love with his straight friend. This is hinted at repeatedly in the movie and confirmed by the creator. He's NOT straight. That's a huge part of the plot. His mom even asks him because she knows, but he's not ready to talk about it. Maybe give it another watch with this in mind, it's quite beautiful and a story many gay people have lived out in high school.

@beaupedia thank you for your honest and encouraging reply. I see a more universal theme in this film, and didn't want it limited to being a "gay film." It seems to me that Lorenzo's choice to risk vulnerability in exchange for the mere possibility of having deep friendship is applicable to everyone, at least to anyone who has risked loving another.<br /> Again, thank you for being willing to explain your viewpoint. Wish we could have coffee and talk more.

@bfchris I totally understand what you're saying, but sexual attraction is what determines sexuality/sexual orientation. That is shown in the locker room scene and in the way he reacts to having sex with the girl. It's also clear that his mom knows and there are a couple hints that Caito knows too. In the tent when Caito pushes him to reveal something, and he gives him a hard time because he thought it was going to be something bigger. There's also the beach scene when he's staring at Caito's body then looks away quickly when he sees him. Again, this movie was not about the affection or love - there were several scenes showing he was sexually attracted to him.
