An extreme theme, there's no way it can't be a heavy movie, however the approach here is very disturbing because it's indirect, more subjective. The sense of normal life that the movie shows is too uncomfortable, the relationship between the characters is repulsive, and leaves a sick feeling in the stomach. Here the camera angles and posture are more distant, like an observer of the situation, which ends up being very agonizing. The performances are great, even too realistic, it's a movie that really hurts.

Absolutely gripping film. It's clear from the outset that this is going to be quite unsettling even though the horrors of what the boy endures are only implied. Two very strong performances from the main characters and an emphasis on demonstrating the mundanity of the everyday life that Michael leads outside the horrible crimes he is committing. Not likely to generate many repeat viewings but still worth watching

Tough to recommend, but very much a quality piece of work.

The subject of paedophilia is naturally never going to be a topic that has people rushing out to theatres. It is what it is and it rightly induces horror and repulsion in straight thinking adults. Yet to simply stick our heads in the sand More
