They tried to turn this into sci-fi James Bond, but with a female lead.
In theory, a genius idea, you’d say.
But in reality it’s just so, so bland.
It’s a movie that doesn’t make you feel anything at any point.
You know exactly what’s going to happen all the time, and not just at the end, but also during scenes themselves.
Also I don’t think Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth are funny together, and I’ve actually thought that ever since Thor: Ragnarok (I know, hot take), but their lines here were chuckle worthy, at times.
The action is ..... just fine. The editing if fine, it’s watchable, but it doesn’t hit you at any point.
It’s just all so tame.


Remember 5 summers ago? The summer in which we had Godzilla, 22 JS, Winter Soldier, Edge of Tomorrow, Guardians of the Galaxy, Days of Future Past, etc.
Summer movies are starting to follow the same pattern as contemporary pop music.
They’ve both become kinda shit, and people are blaming streaming services for their downfall.
However, that’s not the reason for their downfall, at all.
The mistake is that producers are just **not willing to take any risk**, and rather have their films be written by committees than screenwriters.
But here’s the thing: how many more films like Dark Phoenix, Godzilla II and now this do need to flop before you finally learn that that approach doesn’t work, Hollywood?
