I watched this without any idea that it was related to the “Sound! Euphonium” series. Rather, I had found the movie based on a love for some of the director’s other works (A Silent Voice).

The film had a very atmospheric and intangible quality to it. Like a melody that is floating on the wind, but without much blowing in any one direction. Regardless, it did a fine job of representing the themes that it set out to deliver. There was arguably a limited amount of plot, with the only “direction” being the idea that real life should mimic the fairy tale. I enjoyed being brought along for the ride.

The music and animation was top notch, and being a previous band student myself, I could really feel the bonds that they forge, bend, and sometimes break.
