The Director's Cut of Little Shop of Horrors is truly something to behold. To think the studio demanded the film recut and a new ending attached is a crime of cockbox scale proportions. Greatful for the Director's Cut edition scatter releases ;)

The original ending is so much better. It's how it was "meant to see". I don't know why the studio demanded a new ending.

Nevertheless, it's a great movie and you should definitely watch it.

@condemned It wasn't the studio that demanded a new ending. Test audiences reacted really negatively to the original ending, so they changed it.

great memories of this one! my fourth grade teacher showed it to us without signed permission slips and whatnot. always had a soft spot for rule breaking, especially on stuff that doesn't need rules. best moment in my elementary years.

“Feed me, Seymour!” From director Frank Oz comes Little Shop of Horrors, an outrageous musical comedy. Based on the off-Broadway musical, the film follows a little flower shop on Skid Row that is taken over by an alien planet from outer space. Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene give great performances and are supported by the terrific comedic talents of Steve Martin, John Candy, and Bill Murray. The music is outstanding, with wonderfully choreographed dance numbers; which really brings the audience into the musical aesthetic of the film. Little Shop of Horror is a wildly entertaining comedy that’s a lot of fun.

Theatrical Cut - 4/10
Director's Cut with the proper ending - 6/10

Classic example of the theatrical release of a movie being vastly inferior to the home video release. I recommend watching this on Blu-ray and trying to forget that that 1987 theatrical cut ever existed.

This film presents a problem for me, which is the songs. Although they are good, they are all in English and not dubbed. The constant presence of songs in a language I don't understand ends up becoming tiring, and I don't want to hear the phrase "you need to study English" again. Is it too much to ask to watch a film in Portuguese?
Furthermore, the story didn't really captivate me. The characters are reasonable, but the highlight is the special effects, which are impressive to this day. The best character, without a doubt, is Audrey 2. I would have liked to have had more involvement with her during the film.

**(Director's Cut)**

I've been putting off this one for so many years because of the musical aspect, it's not something I would usually go for but I ended up enjoying this a lot. There's only a musical number every 10-15 minutes, felt like the right amount. Some pretty good humor, a decent romance, hits emotional when it needs to and some horror visuals i'll remember.

I'm not a connaisseur of musicals, this is like the fifth musical i've seen in my entire life but I don't see the appeal of a musical if the singing is lipsync on a pre-recorded song. Still, it's some great singing and Levi Stubbs as Audrey II was awesome.

The puppetry that make Audrey II come to life is about as good as you'll ever see. If this was done today it would be entirely CG which is sad. Audrey (I) was so freakin annoying I couldn't stand her stupid way of speaking. Steve Martin as the mad dentist is the real star of the movie, what an eccentric and memorable performance! Loved every scene with him. Absolutely epic last 15 minutes!

Not really a fan of musicals and the songs do take up much of the runtime. Otherwise, good cast and some fun characters here.

Alright, now I can see why so many people love this cult classic.

It's fun, but dark. The writing is witty, simple, and straightforward. The songs are absolute bops! The sets are memorable, even if it's all just back alleys and shops on a soundstage; the fact that you know the sets aren't real makes it feels a little more like a stage musical. And the puppetry used for Audrey II is by far the best I've ever seen! It's so lifelike in the way it moves, it's kind of unsettling.

Everyone else who enjoys this movie probably says the exact same things, so I'll finish with this: if you like musicals and weird, campy movies, you'll like _Little Shop of Horrors_.

Since I couldn't find the theatrical cut of this film, I watched the director's cut instead. I thought this was a very entertaining film. There were a lot of catchy songs and some really funny scenes. I especially liked Bill Murray in this film, the dentist scene was very funny. The final scene where people buy little Audrey II plants that go on a rampage was excellent. One of those plants ate an entire train and another one decided to crash the walls of a wall where a family is watching the news. I thought that scene was very entertaining as well.
