Vodka, corrupted politicians and personal tragedies makes this a stunning drama from the shores of the Barents Sea. Very enthralling movie which paints a gloomy picture of modern Russia. Great movie!

Reflective, critical and powerful, a film that, through a few characters in a small town, manages to be a reflection of a society that suffers institutionalized violence, through state oppression and the church. Despite being a movie with symbolism, it also manages to be visceral and raw, with realistic performances, conveying a lot of truth and emotion, which makes the movie engaging and immersive. The cinematography is as beautiful as it is melancholy, and serves as the perfect backdrop for this story.

A look into the soul of modern Russia as told through a reinterpretation of the biblical story of Job. It sounds boring, but it actually gets its arms around a lot of stuff, such as corruption, the relation between church and state and the individual seeking justice in a broken system (similar to so More
