Forbidden Hollywood is a series of 'pre-code' films: movies that took advantage of the fact they were made before ratings were introduced to the motion picture industry. _Jewel Robbery_ is a prime specimen because it revels in the romance of an extra marital affair while marijuana cigarettes are used to make victims fall asleep, get the giggles and "wake up with a healthy appetite": all of this in a movie made in 1932! I'm not a connaisseur of old films but I genuinely enjoyed _Jewel Robbery_. It was laugh-out-loud funny (and sometimes even intentionally), had anticipated antique cringe (the married woman lovingly tells her illicit beau he'll have to force her to get what he wants), and contained a surprisingly clever story, even by contemporary standards.
