There are good and bad movies in any decade of cinema and I think this one is rather a bad one. Even the likes of Power, Fonda and Scott are not able to overcome the weak story. By no means is this a revenge tale. It is, for the most part, a cheesy and badly written love story. I can not see the _supreme epic_ this is supposed to be. The movie just rolls along and I checked a lot of times how much is left to watch. And in the end when James got shot I was glad it was over. I like western and have seen many of them multiple times. This one will drift into nirvana.

The film looks good in Technicolor but also becomes increasingly sluggish as it goes on.
