I went into It's What's Inside completely blind, and I really enjoyed the way the movie unfolds. Because of that, I will try to keep this review very high level to not spoil too much so that people can still enjoy the twists and turns. The whole movie is heavily stylized, with everything awash in neon colors, mainly blues and reds. The camera will zoom in and out of focus, emphatically announcing its presence. The editing is equally in your face, with frequent split screens and cuts that slide between different images. I found these stylistic flourishes to be enjoyable, though they are certainly over the top at times. Compounded with its zany concept, the direction makes the movie feel like it is bursting with ideas and energy. Also, the entire cast does an admirable job, always feeling believable as their characters even when the movie might be asking too much from them. I've been a fan of Alycia Debnam-Carey for a while, and it's great to see her in this as well. I did have a few criticisms though. The movie takes a while to get to the initial concept, and from that initial concept, it takes a bit to get to the main conflict. ]Once that main conflict arrives, it's really fun to watch it unfold -- I just wish the beginning was cut down. Also, the concept is ripe for interesting thematic, character-driven, and sociopolitical commentary. I don't think this movie fully achieves that though, instead using it for a very surface level exploration. It's hard to explain without spoilers, but it could have done so much more with the dynamics and backstories of its characters. However, it's still fairly entertaining despite that, and though it has missed potential here, it isn't wasted in my opinion.

Overall, I recommend this movie if you're looking for a stylish comedy-thriller focused on younger characters with a fascinating concept.
