While I may complain about French genre films, one thing they do excel at is social drama.

_Les Invisibles_ is the story of what happens to a group of women when the shelter that cares for homeless females during the daytime is suddenly slated for closure. There is emotion that will choke you up and humour that will make you laugh out loud, and often both extremes in the space of 5 minutes.

French director Louis-Julien Petit encroaches on Ken Loach territory with _Les Invisibles_, and does so whilst seeming only a tad contrived. One factor that gives the movie its sense of authenticity is that the homeless women in the film are portrayed by women who were homeless in the past. Strong recommend.
