This movie was **extremely** slow getting started and the rape scene was very long, drawn-out, and brutal. If you have a queasy stomach, you will want to skip this. If you can take the extended rape scene, however, it _does_ make the last half of the show a lot more satisfying, understanding the "real justice" that was dished out by the victim. (IMO, however, I _still_ think the justice served up to the rapist in _American Mary_ is what every rapist is deserving of.) Odd thing to say about a movie like this, I know, but I really do have to give a shout-out to the cinematography in this film. There were numerous gorgeous still shots, close-ups, "thinking" shots that really served to draw you into the scene and make the movie come alive even more. I've watched this one other time but wanted to sit through it again as a way of watching (or trying to) the entire trilogy.

**UPDATE** After watching _I Spit On Your Grave 2_ and reading the reviews (here as well as Rotten Tomatoes), I will NOT finish the anthology, as I had thought. _I Spit On Your Grave. 2_ was a poor movie in and of itself but apparently they just get even worse, and I have better things to do than sit through really bad movies.

The original _I Spit On Your Grave_ has quite a history behind it - very interesting to read, actually - and I know this was a "remake" but in many ways, this one fell short of capturing the brutal feel of the original. Still worth watching, though, IF - and that's a big IF you need to ask yourself prior to starting this one up - you can stomach the torment and rape. In some ways, having to endure the "cat-and-mouse" taunting/teasing before the actual rape itself was more difficult to sit through and feel a part of; you genuinely (at least I did) wanted to save the poor girl from what everyone knew was coming...and the taunting just made it that much more difficult to endure. Ask yourself if you can sit through it without flinching, and if you think you can stomach it, give this a watch. The cold justice she dishes out is well-deserved and highly rewarding, and I absolutely loved the conclusion.
