I need people to realise that not everything is for you. If you don't 'get it' that doesn't inherently make it a bad film, especially when the film is a very clear trans allegory. Saying it's incoherent because you have never felt like this, is dismissive of the experiences shown. it's not about you. It's not for you. The people who it's for are mourning. They are remembering what it's like being Owen. They are looking deep inside themself, realising that they are Owen. They are hoping, begging and screaming that Isabel can free herself. I It's a good movie, and as a result of being a good movie it's not for everyone.

As if part of the marketing of this movie, you can see how it's being review bombed by homophobes in every possible platform. The movie is an anology of struggling with body dysmorphia while growing up in environments that don't allow you to be yourself. If you're homophobic or have no interest in understanding that struggle, than this movie is not for you, nor should you rate it, just like you wouldn't rate Paw Pawtrol because it wasn't a drama about international spies. Learn to choose movies for yourself, don't be dumb.

I feel like I was watching static the entire time. An empty void of a film.

Never been read harder than when my little brother saw this and said ‘I really liked it but YOU’LL love it’. This must be how some trans people felt seeing the Matrix, feeling seen, feeling called out, a generational disillusionment and a deep dysphoria acknowledged. But The Matrix is a power More

I was cognizant of the polarizing audience reviews for this movie coming into it, and I was fairly hesitant. I do not usually mesh well with artsy surreal movies that tend to be mostly symbolic. I find them often opaque (no pun intended for the in-movie TV show "The Pink Opaque) with very tenuous sy More

After watching this piece of incoherent, unfocused rubbish, I would have much rather watched the TV glow instead. Writer-director Jane Schoenbrun’s incomprehensible smart horror offering is an absolute utter waste of time, not to mention the ticket price. This glacially paced story of two psycholo More
