I'm Still Here is a portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of actor Joaquin Phoenix. With remarkable access, the film follows the Oscar-nominee as he announces his retirement from a successful film career in the fall of 2008 and sets off to reinvent himself as a hip-hop musician. The film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads and explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.

Joaquin Phoenix essentially decides to quit acting and pursue a hip hop career in this "documentary." I have to give the filmmakers, especially Joaquin Phoenix himself, a lot of credit for going out there and acting in front of the world during the filming of this mockumentary. There was certainly effort put into this. The problem is that it's just boring. The film's beginning and end are boring, and the middle is only mildly interesting. It could have been so much more than this. Too bad.

The Man The Myth The Rapper Joaquin Phoenix The fact he kept this character going for 2 years and fooled the world, just proves he's one of the greatest actors alive.

Some may like this performance movie that Phoenix did continue to perform in real life at the time. I do not. I find it pointless and stupid. But you should start watching it yourself and make your own opinion.

I do not really get the point of this movie.

It really looks to me like a big internal joke between Affleck and Phoenix that is extended in time by far too long.

I have to praise Phoenix's performance but the character itself is too laughable to be kept for that long.
