It's more like "I confess" to watching this film. This is certainly one of Hitchcock's failures. The entire story is built on one rather flawed principle (I won't give it away). But the film is a failure for many other reasons from the wooden acting, to the obvious wholes in the narrative to the uninspiring finale.

This is without a doubt one of the weakest Hitchcock films. Hitchcock seemed to phone this one in as his meticulous direction is nowhere to be seen. The acting is atrocious and the best acting seems to be from O.E. Hasse as the scared Keller and Karl Malden as the Inspector, who seems competent enough as a cop for the times
