A notorious bank robber Tom Dolan (Liam Neeson) wants to live a normal life when he falls in love with Annie Wilkins (Kate Walsh) and decides to return all the money he has stolen and turn himself him for a shorter sentence. However a couple of corrupt FBI agents (Jai Courtney and Anthony Ramos) try to set him up and take his money.

This was a pretty poor movie and one of Neesons worst in my opinion. This isn't down to Liam Neeson himself; it is down to the poor story and bland script. I know what I am getting into when I watch his movies, nothing that is incredible but is enjoyable and fun. This was neither.

The film is incredibly slow. The story is as dry as I have ever seen. Very predictable and not a whole lot happens. Liam Neeson portrays pretty much the same character in most of his movies, but he normally does a pretty good job at it. While not awful in this, he doesn't have the same energy as usual, and he is badly written which doesn't help. Anthony Ramos was slightly more interesting than Jai Courtney was. His character seemed a little more than just a mindless killer, but both felt pretty dumb for FBI agents. Kate Walsh didn't do too much wrong. Jeffrey Donovan was quite good in was probably my favourite part of the film. He did the best he could with the bad screenplay.

With a plot this bad, I at least expected some decent action sequences, all I got was a few lame car chases and a few bullets. If it was more of a crime drama than an action crime drama it would have been forgiven. This film would have been more interesting if it had smarter characters.

Honest Thief was a dull action movie and not one I enjoyed. 4/10.
