I admit that the African Christmas setting is somewhat fascinating and a breath of fresh air, but for my taste the Christmas spirit is too shallow for a Christmas movie.

:frowning2:

The quirky editing in many scenes tries to make the film feel youthful, but it's mostly just distracting in a movie like this.

**Kristin Davis** is annoying like a little child and not a very good actress. She over-performs most of her scenes, and under-performs in the rest.

Some of the cinematography is really horrible, like the film was shot with a camcorder.

You know from those first few horrible scenes how pointless movie is going to be. The way they set up the story is almost cringe-worthy.

At the center of things there is a love story that suddenly appears out of nowhere without a proper set-up and makes no sense. They really shouldn't be falling in love with each other at all.

There's something strangely offensive about a tourist visiting the African wilderness only to sit on a bench at a Wi-Fi spot and video chat with her son. Pat those elephants instead!

The film lacks an interesting story, emotional impact or dramatic tension.

:face_vomiting:

It says a lot when the best actors in the film are the elephants.

The characters are uninteresting and flat, with almost no personalities or real back stories, particularly **Rob Lowe**.

The blonde Dutch woman is supposed to bring some tension to the story but she's barely in the film and remains utterly pointless.
