A highly disturbing but mesmerizing look at the joys and dangers of life in the mob. Colorful but dramatically unsatisfying.

"As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster." Since the 27th anniversary was earlier this week and the recent passing of Frank Vincent I wanted to revisit this masterpiece. What a brilliant film. Everything is excellent, from the acting to the camera work to the soundtrack, this is one of the very best movies of all times. Martin Scorsese is at the top of his game. This is a perhaps Martin Scorsese's best film and it depicts just ho More

Paul Cicero's cigar is magic, it disappears in between shots (the scene at 25 minutes-ish). That's one of a few truly glaring continuity errors in this film. (IMDB lists a remarkable number of "Goofs", but most of them are so small you'd have to really be looking for them. Not so More

Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas is without question one of the finest gangster movies ever made, a benchmark even. It’s that rare occasion for a genre film of this ty More

Martin Scorsese (director) always loves details in crime films, but he is not primarily interested in the crime itself. That is why his films are always produced with details that you may see as unimportant to you, especially if you want to see the movie for the purpose of seeing scenes of theft, mu More
