Best bit of Get Rich or Die Tryin'? The fight in the bathroom. It looked so clumsy. Everyone had trouble staying on their feet but I can't help but praise everyone involved for their commitment. All Naked, slippery, trying to stab and fight each other. A legendary scene! Amazing stuff.

Anyway I never looked into Get Rich or Die Tryin' and my girlfriend asked me many times to watch this with her. This time I thought what the hell, after a great 8 Mile rewatch let me see 50's cinematic debut in film based a little bit on his life. The opening credits were great, Omar Benson Miller not only living in Detroit, Viola Davis, Bill Duke and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. A solid, solid cast. I thought I'm in for a treat. But it kind of fell flat at the end. Maybe I wanted too much out of it. Or I took it too seriously. I don't know.

It is entertaining but maybe I wanted to learn more about 50's life before his career took off. Maybe I should've just watched this as a Gangsta movie and not a Gangsta-Rapper movie. But hey, you can't win them all. I do think if I ever rewatch this I might be better off going in and knowing the cheesiness of it all. But now I feel a tiny bit disappointed.

But hey, the bathroom sceen will stay with me for a long, long time!
