Most Christian movies are cheesy and tebd to have mediocre acting. This is no exception. But the message if the story is good. I liked the comparison if a firefighter never leaving a partner behind. It addresses addiction , pornography, and selfishness and how it can break down marriages. It is, of course, simplistic to believe all marriages can be saved this way. There are some lines that can't be crossed, sime things that can't be forgiven or so easily overcome. But it teaches the importance of valuing marriage and learning to grow and change.

Some uneven acting knocks this film down a few pegs; regardless, this is a fine film, filled with good lessons on how to truly love someone while in a relationship, as well as some exciting first responder rescue films, and Alex Kendrick's trademark jovially slice-of-life writing to ease the mood as appropriate. This certainly marked a turning point in the Kendrick's Brothers' writing, into a more realistic and grounded style. Fireproof is easy to recommend, and I'm sure it will be easy rewatch material as well.

I think Catherine Holt (Erin Bethea) sums up very well what’s wrong with her marriage to Caleb (Kirk Cameron): “You can’t expect me to work every day and get the groceries while you look at trash on the Internet dreaming about your boat.”
