I love '60s European horror, especially ones that involve vampires. Unfortunately, this one fails on almost every level.
The story here is very simple, and had been done to death, even by the time this was made: a woman inherits a castle - like you do - only to discover that the people within may be vampires... or not... at least one is shown to be fake, while it is unclear what the deal is with another one. Neither humans nor vampires will die from being jammed with a torch, so I don't know.
Anyway. Aside from Adriana Ambesi's gigantic chest demons being barely contained by her dress, the movie has nothing going for it.
I'll start with the film's biggest infraction: having terrible humor in it. I absolutely hate when there is comedy in horror, particularly when it just doesn't land.
Next, we have the awful acting, and dialog. "I'm allergic to castles!" Hell, even the music is bad! There is one main theme that plays again and again; it's on an organ - which is a good start, because organs do sound creepy - however, the rhythm has a swing to it that makes it feel more like jazz rather than terror.
Finally, we have a Van Helsing type character who takes far too long to explain the lore within this pseudo vampire movie. Listen, when you're talking about yoga, and sleep being a mystery, you lost me.
Listen, the movie is pure garbage as a horror film, but if you have an affinity for terrible movies, it does have a modicum of charm.
I can't recommend this, but I do think some people would enjoy just how laughably bad it is from start to finish.
