here I can't say the same thing I said about the first one (1998) - oh guys... the movie is cool, but it's SO slow, but SO slow, that it irritated me at a certain point, because I didn't think it would get anywhere! - In the first film, the screenplay followed a whole thread that knew how to bring facts that really contributed to the development of the film... here, the film is all full of cuts that show different moments of queen elizabeth (already fixed on her throne ) but for ME they didn't add up to practically anything! it gets very boring at a certain point in the movie - luckily I can say that Cate Blanchett managed to carry this movie on her back to make me watch it until the end (she has superb moments during the movie, I LOVED it) - besides, the costumes are GORGEOUS and they manage to surpass themselves at every moment of the film - Anyway, if you watched the first movie and like that kind of movie, it's worth checking out the sequel, otherwise... - an ''ok'' movie and only

However, something went wrong. I have the impression that this is a collection of scenes from a B rated series, which was created because someone want to do it, but lacked a broader vision.

What can I say, but a disappointment from Blanchett & the film! I had expected greatness, since it was yet another Academy Award nomination & she wasn't simply the budding actress but an award winning & practiced professional now. But the more mature & cemented Elizabeth fell flat & lacked dimension. The only slightly interesting bit I found was with the volta dance scene and the quick flashbacks. And pls don't get me started on the sad attempt at a "Braveheart speech". Both films however inspired me to look up more about Elizabeth I & that is a win in my book! Her final monologue at this end of this film stood out to me. There is power. There is loneliness. With good music, good cinematography, and good monologue, the delivery was grand! > "I am called the 'Virgin Queen'. Unmarried. I have no master. Childless. I am mother to my people. God give me strength to bear this mighty freedom. I am your Queen. I am myself."

well... at least the costumes were stunning? because jesus fuck, the script is so flat that I am amazed that Cate didn't break her back carrying this movie so hard
