The thing I love about documentaries is that I always learn something. For example, in _Cunningham_ I learned I don't like modern dance or documentaries about modern dance.

Basically, this guy in post-WWII New York decided he would make up dances that consist solely of a series of poses humans have never struck before. "Have you ever seen a person stand like this? No? Put it in the dance. Has anyone ever made this movement? Throw that that in, too."

Different is good. I love different. I **am** different. But being different just for the sake of being different smells like Andy Warhol's high pitched squeak while he was screaming in a scene about how a silver balloon floating into the sky was the most incredible thing he'd seen in his lifetime: they're able to fool themselves into believing it's true, but I'm not falling for it.

PS For those of you who are huge fans of modern dance, Merce Cunningham, and his musical partner (between both the sheets of music and the other sheets, as well) John Cage, please feel free to vilify me in the comments below. I'm but a humble philistine careening through this intellectual mine field of life having my mind constantly blown and my self illusions thankfully shattered!
