An early monster movie that is great if only because of the pretty bad special effects. Classic horror cinema

"I can tell you something about this place. The boys around here call it "The Black Lagoon" - a paradise. Only they say nobody has ever come back to prove it." I truly have to find a way to watch Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3D. Anyway this was the first time rewatching the last true Universal Monster movie and it is still a blast. The fire stunt, the underwater scenes, the swimming, Julie Adams, Gill-man's theme song and the suit the used for the "creature". The suits truly looks amazing. So ahead of its time. The story is cliché filled but what do you expect? The setting is great, the monster is classic, it is a slasher movie and it is just 80 minutes of pure fun. One of the best Universal Monster movies!

I don’t watch much of old films so I don’t have a lot to compare to but imagine the creature costume was pretty great for it’s time. It’s impressive to imagine somebody having to swim around in that suit and doing it well but someone did it.

The movie plays on the fear of the unknown creature. Deep in the Amazon Rainforest, there might be some kind of ancient, half-fish-half-man horror that sets out to kill all h More

We didn't come here to fight monsters, we're not equipped for it.

Out of Universal Pictures, Creature from the Black Lagoon is directed by Jack Arnold, and stars Richard Carlson, Julia Adams, Richard Denning, Antonio Moreno, and Whit Bissell. The eponymous creature was played by Ben Chapman on la More

'Creature from the Black Lagoon' is an entertaining flick from 1954.

For a film made so long ago, it really does age nicely. Sure some of the ways used to bring the creature to life look a little dorky in patches, but for the most part I felt the required creepiness - especially via the More
