@saundrew I had the same experience. I thought this movie was a fun action film back when it originally came out. Watching it again in 2024; it was awful.<br /> <br /> <br /> The acting, editing and camera work feel like a student film. The action felt very meh, it's not particularly well choreographed, especially compared to modern films like John Wick. [spoiler]The part where he injects himself with epinephrine and has as huge adrenaline spike is followed by what is meant to be a high octane scene, but it's just him sprinting down a few paths with quick cuts and loud music and nothing else happening.[/spoiler]<br /> <br /> <br /> And the main character is completely unlikable. [spoiler]He assaults, traumatises and murders innocent bystanders throughout the film, he rapes his girlfriend in public and people cheer him on. And the bit where he yells "Al quaida" at the taxi driver to get all the white people to assault the innocent taxi driver... was that meant to be a feel-good "fuck yeah, America!" moment? Because it was just plain racist, both from the characters and the film makers.[/spoiler]<br /> <br /> It has an interesting premise for a turn-your-brain-off action movie, but quite poorly executed.
