It’s been a scorching hot day here across the whole country and the evening is showing little sign of cooling down. On nights like this I like to revisit one of my all-time favourites, Body Heat.

This is a hot, sweaty, sexy neo-noir thriller from Empire Strikes Back writer-turned-director Lawrence Kasdan. William Hurt and Kathleen Turner star as a couple who meet and fall for each other in the deliriousness of a heat wave. She’s married to a wealthy man, but they lose all control and can’t keep their hands off each other. Soon, they devise a plot to kill her husband and get his money, and things begin to unravel.

I struggle to find anyone to agree with me, but I think this is one of the best crime-thrillers ever made. The sheer passion shared by the on-screen couple is enough to build the film on, but Kasdan’s dreamlike direction and John Barry’s swirling score make it an all time classic that I just love coming back to.

If the heat hasn’t died down by tomorrow then do yourself a favour, pour yourself a drink on the rocks and get your hands on a copy of this film (then write to me and tell me you also think it’s a masterpiece).

@benoliver999 The best crime-thriller-noir ever made. Hint: "Mary Ann and I left Wheaton together and went to Chicago."

@benoliver999 Agreed. One of the best. The guys are a little goofy. The girls are dangerous.
