_And Then We Danced_ is an average looking guy at a party who's really attractive because of his accent. This LGBT dance film merits a watch because of 1) the milieu of traditional Georgian dancing and 2) the extraordinary performance by newcomer Levan Gelbakhiani. There's not much new here, but what isn't new is still fresh.

It took a while for this film to really strike me but that last act was just absolutely breathtaking. The takeaway for me was definitely the directing. Some shots and scenes (e.g. the Georgian singing around the table - that tracking shot :kissing_closed_eyes::ok_hand:, Mary comforting Merab in the street as the camera watches over them from the window, the moment when Merab comes out to his brother, and the very final dance scene) were very powerful and just beautiful cinematic moments. The story is powerful, the cultural aspect is very interesting, but the filmmaking elevates it all.
