A Tale of Two Sisters

Despite perhaps not having aged all too well, it's obvious from the opening frame onwards that everything about A Tale of Two Sisters has been carefully structured. Unfortunately, it's hard to really discuss that in any detail without giving away one of the major twists. Nonetheless, you best be prepared for something that is disjointed & suffocatingly unnerving. While the strange framing and overall sound design do a brilliant job of building up tension throughout, the first third or so of the film does seem to have some pacing issues at first and some of the horror elements feel a little out of place. Yum Jung-ah and Moon Geun-young both delivered very nuanced performances, further adding to the atmosphere alongside Kim's direction, all culminating to the final few moments where your enjoyment of the film is largely going to be determined by how effective you feel the two big revelations are. Despite whether you think it sticks the landing or not, I'm sure it will leave you feeling that this is a film that _definitely_ deserves a rewatch.
