I truly cannot believe that in 2009, a mainstream movie remake of a beloved classic thought it was a good idea to change it so Freddy is haunting the dreams of kids he fucking molested. That is insane!!! And the end of the movie has Rooney Mara in the little girl outfit she had on when Freddy molested her! WHAT?! This isn't the fun kind of WTF, its the gross, disgusting, who was this movie made for kind of WTF. It's shocking.

It's so ridiculous how they turned the scariest, freakiest guy in horror-movies ever into a creepy little pedophile. Total suckage, to quote @dreagan.

Plenty of dumb moments and inconsistencies in this remake, but my favorite is when they go to Krueger's old room and first they're unsure if it's his room or not, but then Quentin finds
one of Krueger knife-fingers and he says "this is definitely his room...", but hello... Isn't the whole point that they are there to prove Krueger's innocence because they think he's after them because they lied? So why would he have knife-fingers? Why would it definitely be his room? Ugh...
I actually didn't mind this remake. The movie was more horror than the original for obvious reasons (better cameras, special effects, etc). I do like the original, but I can also appreciate this remake. The ending was definitely done better than the original. The thing I didn't like was the way Freddy looked. Every time I saw him on screen I internally died. He looks more baby ish and more cleaned up than the original Freddy which I could not get behind.

I've always walked around the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street in a huge circle. I've always heard it's horrible. So now that I had finally decided to watch it, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was.

Yes, it did proof that practical effects can look much better than CGI, looking at you Freddy in the wall scene, Jackie Earle Haley isn't Robert Englund, these kids aren't as good as the original, I miss Heather Langenkamp but in the end I was still kinda entertained. It helped the running time was a clean 95 minutes and it helped a lot that I didn't expect anything out of this.

Will I rewatch this anytime in the future? For now a big no. In the end though, it didn't end up on my "movies you should never watch" list if my friends ask for advice. So a little win?

I can’t fault the cast, the poor rating is what they did with the film. They took a horror film and turned it into something sick. Far too much emphasis on being a pedophile...why??

I’ve not seen the original since I was a teenager and remember it being absolutely ridiculous scary. If I watched it now, it probably would be very dated with special effects etc. But, at least it was scary.

This version was just sickening. Not enjoyable.

“One, Two, Freddy’s coming for you.” A Nightmare on Elm Street is rebooted for a new generation with a frightening and disturbing new vision. In this new version, former child molester Freddy Krueger returns to stalk his former victims in their dreams and kills them off one-by-one. An interesting cast has been assembled for this film, including Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger; and surprisingly they all give pretty strong performances. This is a much darker and creepier interpretation of the Krueger story, which makes him a lot scarier, but also less fun. Additionally, Freddy’s new look, while more realistic, doesn’t have any personality or distinctiveness to it. This gritty take undercuts some of the comedy, but A Nightmare on Elm Street still delivers an entertaining and thrilling tale of horror.

Lets get this straight, there is only ONE Freddy Krueger actor & his name is Robert Englund. Do not waste your time on this garbage.

After watching this fully, it felt like I had not slept for 70+ hours. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype for me.

This is terrible, just a lazy remake which brings nothing good to the table. Jackie Earle Haley just looks off as Freddy and they made Nancy suck. Worst of them all.

I enjoyed the film. I’m not a horror snob. Was a fun watch. You can tell the writers weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel without disrespecting the franchise. The Jackie Earle Hayley (Freddy) gave a valiant effort knowing the immense shoes that needed filled.

I give it a 6/10.

I think I am an apologist for this remake. While it is a dull version of what the original one is, I find it better than many of the franchise horror revivals that came out around this time. Has a few good characters on it and the pinned quote is one of my favorite lines Freddy has said. People need to watch 4-6 to remember what horrible can really be.
