Stories that connect through emotions, space, encounters and disagreements. Everything manages to be realistic and poetic, even when the movie uses elements of science fiction. The cinematography is absurdly beautiful, the colors, lights and angles creating the perfect and necessary setting for this story. The performances are excellent, and the plot has beauty and melancholy present at all times, all complemented by the beautiful soundtrack.

So happy to have finally finished Wong’s Love Trilogy. What a ride. This was my last favourite and overall less inspired of the three but still so intoxicating and alluring. This was grittier and dirtier - ever more so than Days (1990) - faster paced and messier. But it’s a good ending. And the references to the other two films were really fun. Can’t wait to watch more of Wong’s filmography :heart:

"2046" might suffer from its episodic structure and incoherent development, but aesthetically, it's by far Wong Kar-Wai's finest achievement. It shares the same sense of longing of "In The Mood for Love", but at the same time, serves in many ways as its polar opposite. Instea More
